I tend to be a traditionalist as far as my desserts go...I like the classics:
Chocolate layer cake with chocolate buttercream frosting
Lemon meringue pie
Brownies from a box mix
Homemade chocolate chip cookies
I'm fascinated--and really rather impressed--when bakers push the limit of everyday desserts, coming up with wild and (potentially) wonderful flavor match-ups.
Maple pecan & bacon cupcakes via
Avocado pound cake via
Cherry bomb cupcakes made with chili powder and tart-sweet cherries via
I'd eat any one of those. And now I feel like eating dessert.

I'm with you and especially with Avocado pound cake. Great! Now what do I do?!
I am so up for Avacoado pundcake or cherry bomb cupckaes.... I think the bacon is pushing it.....
I'd skip the bacon, but the other ones sound good because they have cake in them.
I really want to make that avocado pound cake, but I need a reason. I can't keep that at home--I'll have to eat it all by myself.
The bacon is questionable, but I hear VERY good things.
Words to live by, Sarakastic!
Oh my! Bacon with cake? I bet that is so good.
Early this year I (finally) quit eating meat and dairy so it's been interesting finding substitutes but I've also become a bit more adventurous in what I'll try. That said, I can't imagine an avocado pound cake but maybe I should try it. I found a recipe for a pound cake that has tofu in it. I think it's called a vanilla yogurt pound cake but I call it my tofu cake. I LOVE it. A year ago I would've steered clear of anything with tofu in it.
Now that I've said all that, I think I'm going to check out the recipe for the avocado pound cake. I'm getting ready to leave to go to the grocery store and I just might get the ingredients to make that this weekend.
The avocado pound cake is baking in my oven as I type this. Blog report to follow . . .
Yum! Bacon on maple bars = incredibly good, so I'm guessing the cupcakes are wonderful, too.
Where did you find the avocado pound cake recipe? I am intrigued and might like to try my hand at it!
Kate...click the [via] link right above the photo...joythebaker.com.
Lucy...can't wait to hear about it!
I'd eat the cherry bomb cupcakes, and maybe the avocado one. Apparently, I'm less adventurous than I thought.
