To Catch a Thief

Well, the saga continues...

The principal spoke to my son's class today about the pilfered lunchbox items (still ongoing), but my husband is working on taking things to a whole other level...

by installing an alarm circuit in the lunchbox, triggered by a rubberband. Personally I think this would likely give the teacher a heart-attack or be seen as some sort of terrorist attack. I'm trying to talk him down. Right now the only thing stopping him is that the rubberband is a little 'sensitive'.

I like your husband's style!

I second David's opinion. The more you tell us of your husbands antics, the more impressed I become.

While I entirely sympathise with your hubby, he should be very careful that he is not going to be committing some kind of offence. Or that he isn't going to get himself sued.

As soon as I saw the lunchbox I thought "Alarm!" and then there it was. Question though, how will your son open up the lunchbox without it going off?

I hadn't given that much thought, Sarakastic...makes me wonder if my husband did.

Although, it may be hardly noticeable in the noisiness of the cafeteria as compared to the relative quiet of the classroom

I bet I would've thought my dad was so cool for doing this!

I think I would've just taped one of those musical cards to the inside of the lunch box since I have no technological prowess. ha!

Your husband's two ideas kill me. I feel a little sad for the thief though--he/she could be genuinely hungry without a lunch of their own. I think the teacher should email all the class parents about the situation. Go to the source, I say. "Feed your kids, you brutes."

That is so funny! Can he devise one for people who vandalize jack o'lanterns?

Your husband is certainly creative.

Where do the kids keep their lunches?

The same circuit might work on a jack-o-lantern, Green Girl, depending on the type of vandalism going on. Then again, you might need a motion sensor...

Stacy, they keep their lunches in a basket, but for the last few days, my son's has been behind the teacher's desk. Personally, I don't consider that a solution.
