Hubby's birthday is Saturday, and that's the one day of the year that I'll cater to his somewhat questionable culinary whims. His preference is typically strawberry cake from a mix, topped with premade strawberry frosting--gag! Other favorites include lemon cake (from a mix), spice cake, and gingerbread. He much prefers artificial flavors. This year, the year of my cake-pop experimentation, I was rather surpised to be informed that, not only would my husband like cake-pops for his birthday treat--he wanted spice cake cake-pops, wait for it....decorated to look like him. And he wanted to take them in to share them with his co-workers. ?!?!?!? This is a previously undetected side of my husband, and I'm still not quite sure what to make of it.
If any of you remember, it was all I could do to make my first effort look like the chicks and bunnies they were supposed to be--I hardly felt ready for human features (particularly noses, which I've never been good at rendering). But I decided to take one for the team and give it a shot. Judge for yourself, but I don't think I did him justice...
Waiting for costuming...

HAAAAA that is fantastic, the concept the execution all of it is just wonderful.
I'm cracking up over here! TOO FUNNY! I love the way it came out. Great likeness. ;) I'm sure his coworkers will get a kick out of it!
My wife makes lemon cake from a mix that I like a great deal. Anyway, happy b-day to your significant other.
The lemon is waaay better than the strawberry, David. In my opinion.
I'll forward on your good wishes. :)
Love it! ;)
I cannot stop laughing. Thank you so much for taking photos!
