Today's bust-out-of-school dialogue with my seven-year-old:
7yrold: Mom! Guess what!
Me: What?!
7yrold: I have a girlfriend!
Me: What? How'd that happen?
7yrold: I asked Julie to be my girlfriend.
Right. How else would it have happened?
Later, I eeked out a tad more information.
Me: Why'd you ask Julie to be your girlfriend?
7yrold: Because I wanted one.
Me: But why?
7yrold: Because they're cool.
Can't argue with that logic...
Yesterday Julie just, out of the blue, kissed him on the cheek (I heard). I suspect this had something to do with today's big news. This is the same girl who irritated the boy to no end the first months of school. He came home everyday complaining. The world is full of surprises I guess.

So, you just have to kiss a boy on the cheek to get a boyfriend? Good to know. :)
I always said that Julie was up to no good :)
I agree with Lucy. If I knew that's all it takes, I would have a boyfriend right now.
I remember when my daughter was in K5 and I subbed in the class. As they were getting into line, one of the boys said he was going to marry my daughter. I ask him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said, a doctor or a lawyer, I said, okay. :) Of course they didn't get married, but I think the K5 kid did go to law school.
Next she'll be chasing him around the playground with a worm on her finger, yelling "I'm gonna marry you, Henry Higgins!"
(Ah, shades of Ramona Quimby...)
hee...when finding a man was simple. :)
Ohhh my..my kiddos are only 3 and 5..I am sooooo not looking forward to these days!
