I'm rarely frazzled--I usually have things pretty much together and pride myself on being able to efficiently multi-task. But suddenly, this week, I'm floundering a little--I'm frazzled, and I don't really know how to fix things. When I was wrapping gifts, I'd eyeball the gift and estimate how much wrap I needed, then I'd cut it, and the paper would be no where near big enough. And then today, after a marathon shopping trip to Target lasting almost two hours (I'm not even sure what I was doing in there that took so long), I got home and was walking towards my front door pressing the car's keyless entry, evidently thinking it would work on my house. This year it just seems like there are so many little things, and I'm having trouble keeping track. I've also got no time for reading and barely any for writing. I have my RWA local chapter holiday party tonight, but I'm hoping to sneak in a little bit of editing before I have to leave. Basically this hinges on the ability of my little one to entertain himself. Dicey at best.
On the Santa front, thanks for all the condolences and suggestions. Here's the plan as it stands now. I found a little bag of 'Santa's Coal' bubble gum, and I'm going to stick it in his stocking with a few other things and a note that says something to the effect that 'I still believe in you, and I hope you'll give me another chance next year.' Thoughts? Further suggestions?

Hi, I found you on Trish's Dishes site, and I found her through someone else. Just wanted to say hi since I'm also a Texas Longhorn. I was there from 1984 to 1989.
I love that you self-published your book. I'm going to get a copy and read it. Love to support fellow longhorns!
Merry Christmas!
Hey la la! I was at UT from 1990-1994, so I just missed you! ;)
Thanks for your comments and support!
Merry Christmas to you too!
I ordered your book! Should get it from Amazon in a day or two. Thanks for stopping by my site! I'm in Pasadena, California now. I moved here in 1990.
Just to let you know, I'm frazzled this time of year, too. And, pressing the keyless entry to my door sounds like something I'd do, and it SHOULD work! We can multi-task, why can't our keys multi-function? That's all I'm sayin'
Well, I'm glad I stopped by because you didn't mention the keyless entry into the house thing this evening. :-)
Enjoyed visiting with you at the party tonight and I look forward to reading your book. Thanks for the autograph. :-)
'Tis the season to be frazzled. :)
I don't have any brilliant ideas about the Santa issue--in our house, Santa didn't fill the stockings, he left one unwrapped present, so when the kids started questioning, nothing changed gift-wise--they still got the Santa gift and I answered all the "is there really a Santa" questions with "what do you think?"
::Gasp:: You're a longhorn??! Ahhhh!!!! Teeheehee, jk! ;)
Btw, my two cents about the Santa thing... I still remember when the Santa stuff was going down. It was basically in the 2nd grade when everyone was split between the believers and the non-believers. I was a believer. After Christmas, I found a barcode (not the sticker kind, the kind that's directly on the plastic case) on a mini deck of cards. I confronted my mum and she told me the truth. By the third grade, pretty much everyone didn't believe in Santa. I think it's just that age. BUT, we did have siblings, and our parents told us about keeping the story alive for our brothers and sisters, so that's what we all did. And to this day I still get stockings! I don't think you can change his mind at this point, but I would guess that talking to him like an adult about keeping the Santa Secret for his sib could work. Plus, what sibling doesn't like to know that they know something the other doesn't know?!
You're welcome, Lucy! I enjoyed our chat too, and I really, really do hope you enjoy the book!
I hope you enjoy it, la la! Thank you again!
