Behind the Scenes
Look familiar?
This is the photo I staged to create the cover of my self-published novel Unladylike Pursuits. You'd think this would have been a five minute affair, point and click, but no. I snapped about fifty photos before I decided I had something I could use. (And don't forget I had to brew some tea and slice up a lemon...)
Here is a early failed attempt on lighter wood (my dining room table), with a white feather:
I think I chose wisely. And then my husband Photoshopped it to its present glory.

I think your photo (and cover for that matter) look great!
Getting the right composition can be surprisingly difficult.
I'm not surprised at the 50. You were wise to stick at it until you got what you wanted. There's a million miles between the earlier and the final one.
I wouldn't have known if you hadn't told us. That's a very professional looking cover.
(Cool seeing behind the scenes)
I think you did a wonderful job!!!
I am almost finished reading it and I LOVE it. You are a fabulous writer.
Thanks for the compliments, guys!
I agree with everyone here--very nice photo!
