Yesterday and today I made Martha Stewart's
gingerbread caramels. The recipe is a bit involved, but it makes a sizable tray full of spicy, gingery, delicious caramels. Which some poor soul must then cut into bite-size rectangles to be wrapped (by the same poor soul) individually in wax paper. If I had a whiskey barrel in my kitchen, I could seriously fill it up with caramels, and it would be like old-time penny candy. Just the one kind though. And I'd probably charge more than a penny. It's the thought that counts.

* a Martha-ism.

oh my those look divine!
I really, really loved caramels as a kid and wonder why they are absent from my diet?!
Can't think of a single reason, David...except maybe that they're addictive and bad for your teeth... So no good reasons. ;)
Home made caramel? SUCH a good thing!
Wowwww.
Wow! Those look really yummy! (Also, long time... no comments. Sorry, I was distracted by my day job.)
Gingerbread caramels? My two favorite things have come together?
