Truth or Dare: Are you inked?

Welcome to the first Truth or Dare segment on the blog! Just a heads up: the 'Dare' portion of things is going to be a little tame. Because, let's be honest, I can't check up on you. We're just going to have to go on the honor system if the need arises.

So...pretend we're all lounging on a picnic blanket under a twilight sky. Shoes have been kicked off, shorts and skirts have inched up or down a little as we all shift to get comfortable, and flashes of inky mystery are seemingly everywhere.

Truth or Dare!

What? Truth, you say? Excellent!

Let's talk tattoos.
I've always been curious about them. I wonder about the moments leading up to the decision--seriously what's the deciding factor? I wonder about the selection process--both how a body part gets selected and what gets weighed in on the design choice.

Do I want everyone to see this?
Is it a For-Your-Eyes-Only deal?
Does it have special significance?
Is it an inside joke or understanding?
Or more of an 'anything will do, I just want a tattoo'?

So...be honest. Who among you has a tattoo? And where is it, what is it, why did you get it, and do you regret it?

I'll start. Might as well get the boring among us out of the way.

I don't have a tattoo and virtually nothing could convince me to get one--I'm too adverse to pain, too squeamish, and too wishy-washy. By the time it was inked on, I'd already be regretting it. The only way I could see myself getting one is if--maybe--I was an Olympic athelete and had the Olympic rings tattooed on my ankle. Maybe. No promises. Then again, I think my Olympic chances have likely passed me by. Unless some new events emerge. Like...number of grocery bags carried in on a single trip from the car. Or number of imaginary V8 head thumps I've given out in a one week period.

So...come clean in the comments. Tell your story. You may find it embarrassing, but in all liklihood, everyone else will think you're way cooler than they do now. Sadly, given my answer, I don't think that will be the case for me.

What? You chose Dare, you say? Fine. I dare you to get a tattoo.
Too much? Okay fine. I dare you to tell us all about the tattoo you would get if you were a little bit braver, a little bit bolder, and maybe a little bit tipsier.

If there was a universal symbol of sarcasm I'd probably get one. Possibly I'd get a tattoo that says "tattoos suck". Otherwise, I just change my mind too much about what I think is awesome to make that kind of commitment.

From ages 1-17, my mother would have buried me if I got a tattoo, and then after that, I just never felt like they were cool.

If I had to get one, I'd get one in white ink. It barely shows, and it's almost for your eyes only. And I'd probably get a little heart behind my ear to remind me of who I love and who loves me :)

At my age? Good grief, it's such a cry for validation--never got one when I was young because I couldn't afford it. Never got one once I grew older because I think they are tres tacky.

I love tattoos on other people (well, it depends on where, what, and how many), but I don't think I'd ever get one. I just can't think of any image that I would want on my body for life.

Though, if I did get one, it'd be on my foot. I think those are pretty for some reason.

So, let me get this straight...no readers of this blog have tattoos?? That hardly seems possible. Who's not fessin' up?

Sarakastic, I think you're more than qualified to create the universal symbol for sarcasm and then go viral with it...

Elizabeth, white ink? Sounds almost classy. But behind your ear?? Ouch!

Green Girl and Stacy, I get ya.

I'm going with the truth - no tattoo.
If I was more daring, I'd probably have one. ;)

(thanks for the visit)

No tattoo here either, BUT when I was in college...I got drunk enough that my friend and I went to the tattoo shop. She got one and I went as far as to get the image rubbed on my ankle but then got scared and didn't get it tattooed on! I am so glad that I sobered up. I guess it is a good thing she went first or else I would have a little ATM on my ankle for life! That is a HUGE commitment!

Hi Beth! Thanks for visiting.

Kelly, being a UT graduate myself, I understand how that might could end up being traumatizing. ;)

Whew! Glad you swung by, Keri! You're the only one among us with a tattoo! Glad it makes you happy. :)
