Once again taking inspiration from Jenny Crusie (one of my top five fave authors), I have spent the last few days dabbling in the fine art of collage. While I've always been blown-away by Crusie's intricately detailed, carefully thought out creations, I'd never truly been bitten by the collage-making bug until now.
I always, always have trouble brainstorming my books in the early days, but I never imagined that rummaging through my scrapbooking supplies and casting the characters in my book via jpegs would really work in my favor. But it has! And I've really enjoyed the process itself. So now, I not only have some plotting and character questions answered for me, but I have a bright and fun collage of ideas and pictures to inspire me at the computer each and every day.
What do you think? Would you want to read this book???

Without a doubt, I would like to read this book. Sharp looking collage.
Aww, thanks, David! That made my day.
I was going to say something else then I saw the guy from Pushing Daises and forgot how to think.
YES! wow! what a neat concept.
I'm such a minimalist that I cannot make these, but I always enjoy looking at them! Very cool. Esp. with the Scrabble tiles!
Love it!! I've always wanted to do this. :)
Very impressive collage. Maybe you should try your hand at scrapbooking when you get some "free" time. ;-D
The ghosts are definitely intriguing. I made one of these a while back too, only digital: http://e-tells-tales.blogspot.com/2010/02/inspired.html
Elizabeth,
I considered doing a digital collage, but I wanted to be able to look at it as I wrote, and I like the 3D effect.
Loved your inspiration board, by the way--I'd read that book! ;)
Hey, didn't you do a collage-in-a-box of key things for the first Atlantis book? I want a picture of that. Thank you.
Jenny
You have me mistaken with Alyssa Day, Jenny. :)
I've never done a collage. I'm not sure why. I think, like Green Girl, I'm a minimalist. I do like yours, though.
