Whew! We are back from a rowdy roadtrip to Colorado to celebrate my husband's grandpa's 90th birthday. And I am soooo glad to be home. I haven't cracked open a book in DAYS, and I am going through serious reading withdrawal. But...as the weather was so nice we spent the day strawberry picking and sitting under a clear blue sky and the lacy canopy of some sprawling live oaks.
I stocked up at the farmer's market, even buying half-gallon pots of basil and rosemary to plant myself a mini-herb garden. And of course, I indulged in their huge selection of homemade fried pies. My choice? Chocolate Buttermilk Pecan--yum! Spring, glorious spring!
Now I just need my husband to get home from his library/milk run...
The Google banner for today was just perfect too! I LOVE The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle!

A friend of ours is in Colorado too! Celebrating her mother's 86th birthday. :)
Welcome back.
I have never had homemade fried pie & now I want to move to Colorado.
Those strawberries look soooo good
Strawberry picking already? I'm pretending not to be jealous and failing miserably here.
So jealous of your farmers' market visit! The strawberries are beautiful, your herb garden sounds fabulous, and your pie looks delicious. Glad you had a good trip, even if you didn't get much chance to read!
